Basingstoke and Deane is a local government district and borough in Hampshire, England. Its primary settlement is Basingstoke. It is the northernmost borough of Hampshire, bordered by Berkshire to the north. The first Basingstoke Mayor, George Baynard, was appointed in 1641.
